An Albert Lea man was injured and a Des Moines man died Monday afternoon after one semi rear-ended another on Interstate 90 in Olmsted County.
A 2016 Freightliner semi driven by Jonathan Schadt, 38, of Des Moines and a 2012 Peterbuilt semi driven by Brandon M. Peterson, 30, of Albert Lea were both heading west on Interstate 90 near Stewartville when the two semis collided at 1:50 p.m., according to the Minnesota State Patrol.
Schadt was pronounced dead at 1:53 p.m.
Peterson was transported to St. Marys Hospital in Rochester with injuries deemed not life-threatening.
Both were reportedly wearing seatbelts, and alcohol wasn’t a factor in the crash, according to the report.
Assisting on scene were the Minnesota Department of Transportation, Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office, Stewartville Fire and Gold Cross Ambulance.
A separate semi crash was reported approximately 10 minutes before at the same spot on Interstate 90.
