An Albert Lea native and Edward Jones financial adviser has recently opened a new office in downtown Albert Lea and is working to form relationships with the community through her deep-seated connections.

Angie Eggum, 42, opened the doors on her financial adviser office on Broadway Avenue in July.

As an adviser, Eggum assists a majority of her clients with planning for retirement and helping them with education and estate planning.

Eggum said she assists approximately 250 clients and is working to build that number.

After working with financial adviser Joe and Alex Johnston on Washington Avenue for a year and a half, Edward Jones had her open a new office at 127 S. Broadway, the former home of Reinertson’s Embroidery.

Eggum is a graduate of Albert Lea High School and Augsburg University.

“It’s nice having grown up here because I know a lot of my clients outside the office,” Eggum said.

She lived in the Twin Cities for 10 years before returning to the Albert Lea with her husband, Karl.

Once Eggum moved back to the Albert Lea area, she worked at different jobs building her accounting and financial background. She said she found her true calling with Edward Jones and expects to be a financial adviser for the rest of her life.

“I think that Edward Jones offers a higher level of customer service and financial insight, and I like to portray all of the aspects of Edward Jones in working with my clients.”

Eggum said her main goals with her clients are to build relationships and trust.

“I don’t think you can have a good financial relationship without building those two essential elements,” she said.

She said she runs into clients at her church, Freeborn Lutheran Church, at sporting events and at school activities.

She has two children, Maggie, 14, and Henry, 12, who are involved with school activities.

Eggum said her job is a perfect compliment to her life philosophy.

She said loves people, helping people and building relationships.

“This is the perfect mix of all three of those,” Eggum said.
