Blue Earth resident Steve Bakken took part in a cookie contest that set a world record. Bakken was among 60 contestants who collectively iced 1,169 Christmas cookies in one hour on Saturday at the Mall of America in Bloomington. Bakken, 63,  frosted 63 cookies.

An official judge from the London-based Guinness World Records was on hand to certify the new world record, which required that each cookie had to be completely frosted. The old record was 500 cookies.

Pillsbury Foods provided all the cookies, frosting and workers who helped facilitate the public event.
