Don’t continue to give advantage to the terrorists

We left France a week before the terrorist attacks in Paris. It feels good to be home. But after the terrorist attacks in Colorado and California, we have to wonder if we are any safer here than in France or other countries, because of the great advantages we grant terrorists in this country.

I France, the terrorists had to go to Belgium to get their AK-47s. In America, terrorists just go to the gun store to get their AR-15s. Or, they can just go to a gun show or go online and get whatever they want, no questions asked. Some gun experts say that the AR-15 is more deadly than the AK-47. It is more accurate and shoots faster that the AK-47, so terrorists can kill more people in a shorter time. One of the rifles in San Bernardino was modified to shoot fully automatic. Citizens armed with handguns would not be able to stand up against this type of fire power. And in this country, terrorists can just go to the local shooting range to practice with their weapons, and don’t have to go to a remote training area in the Middle East or Asia.

Why do we have to continue giving foreign and domestic terrorist this huge advantage? In this country, ballots have more power than bullets. We can tell our Congress that we will no longer elect people who refuse to enact sensible gun violence prevention legislation. This legislation would in no way restrict hunting or home defense. According to news reports for a long time now, the majority of Americans want this legislation, regardless of party affiliation. Tell your congressman and senators that we will no longer vote for them if they continue to vote against the will of the people in this matter and continue to give the terrorists the advantage.
