Former teacher, coach inducted into hall of fame

A former Albert Lea teacher and coach was inducted into the Stewartville Athletic Hall of Fame on Nov. 21, according to a press release.
Stanley Kukuzke moved to Albert Lea in 1969, taught art and power mechanics courses at Albert Lea High School and was an assistant coach for the football and track programs, according to his wife, Charlene Kukuzke.
With a successful athletic background as the MVP of the Mankato State football team in 1959, he went on to try out for the Chicago Bears and later worked at Midland Community High School in Wyoming, Iowa, where he started the wrestling program and was the head football and track coach, the release said.
In 1961, Stanley Kukuzke married Charlene Monson. Stanley Kukuzke died Feb. 18, 2014.
