MINNEAPOLIS — Minnesota coach Tracy Claeys has hired two assistant coaches for vacancies on his staff, including offensive coordinator Jay Johnson.
The university finalized contracts Wednesday for Johnson, who will also serve as quarterbacks coach, and offensive line coach Bart Miller.
Johnson is a native of Lakeville, Minnesota, who spent the last five seasons in the same role at Louisiana-Lafayette. Johnson was a star quarterback at Northern Iowa in the early 1990s.
Miller is a native of Omaha, Nebraska, who spent the last two years at Florida Atlantic and previously coached at New Mexico State and Wisconsin. He played at New Mexico.
Claeys let go of offensive coordinator Matt Limegrover, who also served as offensive line coach, and quarterbacks coach Jim Zebrowski last month.
