James Lester, 1946-2015

A celebration of life for James Lester, 69, of Albert Lea will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, at Albert Lea Vineyard Church, 419 Adams Ave. in Albert Lea, with a memorial service at 2:30 p.m. The Rev. Matt Hundley will officiate. Online condolences are welcome at www.bayviewfuneral.com.
Jim died on Monday, Dec. 14, 2015, at St. John’s Lutheran Community in Albert Lea.
James Roy Lester was born on June 3, 1946, in Olney, Illinois, the son of Roy and Gertrude (Stenzel) Lester. He moved to the Albert Lea area as a young boy. Jim graduated from Albert Lea High School and attended school to become a lay minister. He lived in Nashville for a while, where he preached at a mission. Jim drove a taxi for Albert Lea Taxi and worked as a car salesman, as well. He was proud of being the owner/operator of the Great American Hotdog Stand. On June 3, 2004, Jim was married to Kathleen (Lien) Evenson in Mason City, Iowa. He was a member of Albert Lea Vineyard Church and a former member of the Eagles Club. Jim enjoyed fishing and playing golf. Blessed be his memory.
Survivors include his wife, Kathleen; his children Shelia (Jesse) Guerra, Angie Lester and Chad (Karen) Lester; grandchildren Vincente, Jarod, Brody, Shelby, Paige, Sawyer and Joseph; step-grandson, Jesse; great-grandson, Jesse Jr.; brothers Jerry (DJ) Lester and Larry (Tammy) Lester; sister-in-law, Michelle Lester; and nieces and nephews.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents Roy and Gertrude and his brother, Jeff Lester.
