EDEN PRAIRIE — The Minnesota Vikings have nominated a pair of veterans for off-field NFL honors.
For the third time in five years, teammates nominated linebacker Chad Greenway for the Walter Payton Man of the Year for “excellence off the field.” Right tackle Phil Loadholt is Minnesota’s choice for the Ed Block Courage Award.
Loadholt was a 2009 second-round draft pick out of Oklahoma. He started all 89 of his games before tearing his Achilles tendon during the preseason and landing on injured reserve.
Loadholt says being nominated for the Ed Block Courage Award is “a great honor.”
Greenway was nominated for the Payton Man of the Year Award in 2011 and 2014. The 10-year veteran is active in charitable work.
Finalists will be announced in January.
