ANOKA — Authorities are crediting a Good Samaritan with rescuing a child from a burning wreck in the northern Twin Cities.
Two people were killed in the head-on crash that happened shortly before 9 a.m. Tuesday in Anoka County. Sheriff’s deputies arrived to find a pickup truck engulfed in flames.
The sheriff’s office said a passer-by, identified as 35-year-old Thomas Rush of Grandy, saw the crash and went to help. He noticed a small child in the pickup’s back seat and pulled the child out of the truck.
A 73-year-old Columbus woman driving the pickup apparently crossed the center line and collided with a SUV being driven by a 64-year-old man from Mound. Both drivers died at the scene.
The victims’ names have not been released.
