Keith Butenhoff, 1940-2016

Memorial services for Keith L. Butenhoff, 75, of Albert Lea will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Ascension Lutheran Church. The Rev. Mark Boorsma will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home is assisting the family. Online condolences are welcome at www.bayviewfuneral.com.

Keith died Thursday, Jan. 14, 2016, at St. John’s Lutheran Community.

Keith Butenhoff was born Sept. 21, 1940, in Albert Lea the son of Elmer and Harriet (Schmidt) Butenhoff. He grew up here and attended Albert Lea High School. As a young man Keith worked various construction jobs. He then worked for Streater, where he was a woodshop foreman for many years. Finally, he worked for a cabinet shop in Northwood. On July 8, 1977, Keith was united in marriage to Darlene Fisher in Albert Lea. He was a member of Ascension Lutheran Church and the Eagle’s Club. Keith loved woodworking, hunting and fishing. He was known as a great cook and was a Minnesota Vikings and Minnesota Twins fan. Blessed be his memory.

Survivors include his special friend, Deb Johnson; children Danielle Butenhoff of Albert Lea, Julie (Pete) Butenhoff-Ayala of Yuma, Arizona, Jeffrey Butenhoff of Virginia, Scott (Joan) Wichmann of Albert Lea, Robbie Davis of Albert Lea, Rick Wichmann of Maplewood, Wendy Klukow of Ohio and Heidi (Sultan) Khader of New Orleans; several grandchildren; siblings Gerald (Nina) Butenhoff, Marlys (Mike) Jensen, Lois (Ron) Martinson, Ruth Johnson, Twyla (George) Bruns and Roger (Diane) Butenhoff; brother-in-law, Gene Johnson; and many nieces and nephews.

Keith was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Darlene; sister, Helen Johnson; and brother-in-law, Dean Johnson.
