Man injured in Iowa crash

A Des Moines man was injured after crashing into the Winnebago River in northern Iowa Thursday morning.

Jonathan Hildebrand, 48, was transported by Clear Lake ambulance to Mercy Hospital in Mason City with an injury deemed not life-threatening.

A  semi, driven by Hildebrand, was traveling north of Clear Lake on Interstate 35, when it went into the median, through the guardrail and into the Winnebago River a few miles south of the Manly and Forest City exit at 5:15 a.m., according to the Iowa State Patrol.

The crash is reportedly still under investigation.

Assisting agencies included Iowa Department of Transportation, Cerro Gordo Sheriff’s Office and Clear Lake fire and emergency medical service.
