Ramona Sather, 1933-2016

Funeral services for Ramona C. “Susie” Sather, will be at 2 p.m. Friday at First Lutheran Church in Albert Lea. The Rev. John Holt will officiate. Friends may visit with family one hour before services at the church. Susie has generously gifted her body to medical science. Final interment will be in Graceland Cemetery at a later date.

Susie died on Sunday, Jan. 10, 2016, at Thorne Crest Senior Living Community in Albert Lea. She was 82.

She was born May 7, 1933, in Alden, the daughter of Lester L. and Laura A. (Jacobson) Young. Susie graduated from Alden High School in 1951. She was united in marriage to Clifford G. Sather on Jan. 14. 1961, at The Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa.

Susie had worked as a switchboard operator, then at Queen Products in Albert Lea and later at St. John’s Lutheran Community for 15 years.

She was a member of First Lutheran Church, Legion Auxiliary, VFW Auxiliary, Eagles Auxiliary and a grateful member of Al-Anon.

Susie loved Trumble’s Restaurant, especially going on Saturday mornings with Julie and Sundays with Mark. She was an avid sports fan, with the Minnesota Twins among her favorites. Susie always looked forward to coffee parties with old neighbors and friends.

Susie is survived by her children Mark Sather of Albert Lea, Julie Sather (Matt Kleinschrodt) of Albert Lea and Matt’s family ,which includes six children and five grandchildren; sister, Karen (Bradley) Miller, of Freeborn; sister-in-law, Vi Young, of Alden; nieces Jolene Ford of Florida and Kari (Jeff) Forland of Faribault; nephews Danny (Sue) Young of Alden, Allan Young of Alden and Chad (Jenny) Miller of Freeborn; and great-nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Clifford; and brothers Kenny and Larry Young.
