EDEN PRAIRIE — The Minnesota Vikings have hired Pat Shurmur as tight ends coach.

Shurmur’s hire was finalized Monday, when the Vikings announced tight ends coach Kevin Stefanski will become running backs coach to replace Kirby Wilson. Shurmur was previously tight ends coach at Michigan State (1990-97) and with Philadelphia (1999-2001).

This will be Shurmur’s 18th NFL season, including two years as Cleveland’s head coach. He was Philadelphia’s offensive coordinator for the past three seasons, but Norv Turner is still in place with the Vikings.
