Weekend Planner: Annual women’s health symposium slated

Mayo Clinic Health System’s eighth annual Women’s Health Care Symposium will be on Saturday to provide insight for women on how to stay their best.

The symposium will run from 8:30 a.m. to noon at Wedgewood Cove Golf Club, 2200 W. Ninth St. in Albert Lea.

Mayo Clinic experts on bone, heart and mental health will present.

The symposium is free with a complimentary breakfast, but registration is required. Call 507-668-2046 to register.

This symposium has been designed to meet the Minnesota Board of Nursing continuing education requirements.

The following is a roundup of other events happening this weekend:

 

Friday

The “Art with Heart” exhibit at the Albert Lea Art Center will be open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 226 W. Clark St.

• The “Going Places” art exhibit at the Freeborn County Arts Initiative will be open from 1 to 4 p.m. at 224 S. Broadway.

• Lake Mills Community School will present its fifth- through 12th-grade concert at 7 p.m. at the school, 102 S. Fourth Ave. E., Lake Mills.

 

Saturday

The “Going Places” art exhibit at the Freeborn County Arts Initiative will be open from 1 to 4 p.m. at 224 S. Broadway.

Emmons firefighters and first responders will have a soup and pie supper from 4 to 7 p.m. at Emmons Lutheran Church. Donations will be accepted. Proceeds go to support the training and equipment fund.

Denny and the DC Drifters will present a Buddy Holly Tribute at 7:30 p.m. at the Marion Ross Performing Arts Center, 147 N. Broadway. The band will perform the same show it does at the Surf Ballroom in Clear Lake. Tickets are $15.

 

Sunday

The Albert Lea American Legion will host a breakfast from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Menu includes pancakes, potatoes, scrambled eggs with or without ham, sausages, fruit cup, juice, milk or coffee. Cost is $7.50. People can choose what cause they would like $1 of their breakfast to support.
