Three people were injured Friday afternoon after a two-vehicle broadside crash Friday afternoon north of Hartland on Minnesota Highway 13.

Jacob Fitzlaff of Clarks Grove; Brianna K. Schatz, 25, of North Mankato; and Carter Schatz of North Mankato were transported to Mayo Clinic Health System in Albert Lea with injuries deemed not life-threatening.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, Carl D. Schatz, 27, of North Mankato was driving a Ford F-150 south on Highway 13, and a 2001 Buick Century driven by Fitzlaff was heading north on Highway 13. Carl Schatz reportedly attempted to pass a vehicle, moved back into the southbound lane and lost control of the vehicle when he saw the Buick.

According to the State Patrol, the Ford spun out of control before being broadsided by the Buick, approximately two miles north of Hartland.

Brianna Schatz and Carter Schatz were passengers in the Ford.

Carl Schatz reportedly sustained no injuries.

First responders were called to the crash shortly before 4 p.m.

No alcohol was detected and all occupants were wearing their seatbelts.
