Glennes E. Nelson, 88, of Lake Mills died Sunday, March 6, 2016, at Lake Mills Care Center.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Salem Lutheran Church, 401 S. Lake St. in Lake Mills. The Rev. Melinda McCluskey will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Mittelstadt Funeral Home, 902 E. Main St. in Lake Mills, and again one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will take place at Salem Memorial Cemetery in Lake Mills.

Glennes E. Nelson was born Dec. 21, 1927, in Northwood, the son of Clifford and Amanda (Sime) Nelson. He was raised on the family farm and grew up in the Northwood area along with younger brother, Curtis. He was baptized and confirmed at Shell Rock Lutheran Church and attended country school.

On June 16, 1956, Glennes was united in marriage to Trena Mae Kuiper at Congregational Church in Hollandale. Together they farmed for many years and moved to Lake Mills in 1980. Glennes worked at Larson Manufacturing in Lake Mills until his retirement.

He loved his family and enjoyed being with his friends. He looked forward to gardening, doing yard work, wood crafts, his toy tractor collection, camping, fishing and traveling to south Texas during the winter months. He was a member of Salem Lutheran Church and a 40-year member of the Eagles in Albert Lea.

Glennes is survived by his loving wife of almost 60 years, Trena, of Lake Mills; daughter, Audrey Lynn (Brian) Levine, of Ionia, Iowa; grandchildren Mathew (Heather Richmond) Levine, Christopher (Kimberlee Miller) Levine and their children Koree Miller and Brodee Levine, and Nicole Levine; one brother, Curtis (Pat) Nelson, of Northwood; nephew, Chad (Jamie) Nelson, and niece, Michelle (Kevin) Petznick, both of Northwood; great-nieces and nephews Loghan Nelson, Landen Nelson, Emelia Nelson, Maeghan Petznick and Lauren Petznick; along with numerous cousins, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents Clifford and Amanda Nelson; and one nephew, Michael Nelson.
