MINNEAPOLIS — Minnesota will start the Women’s National Invitation Tournament at home.

The Gophers (19-11) will host Milwaukee (19-12) in a first-round game on Wednesday, after missing the cut for the NCAA Tournament.

This is the fourth appearance in the WNIT for the Gophers, following 2007, 2013 and 2014. They reached the round of 16 in 2014.

Because WNIT games are played on campus, senior Rachel Banham will have at least one time on the floor at Williams Arena. The Big Ten’s all-time leading scorer is averaging 27.6 points per game this season.

If the Gophers win, they will play the winner of the South Dakota-Creighton game.
