Kenneth Trihus, 1940-2016

Kenneth Allen Trihus, 75, of Blooming Prairie died Friday, March 25, 2016, surrounded by his loving family at Mayo Clinic Hospital, Methodist campus, in Rochester.

Kenneth was born July 14, 1940, in Blooming Prairie, the son of Marvel and Olga (Madson) Trihus. He was a lifelong resident of the Blooming Prairie area and graduated from Blooming Prairie High School in 1958.  On Nov. 27, 1971, he was united in marriage to Marjorie R. Swanson at First Lutheran Church in Hibbing.

Kenneth worked for 42 seasons for Ulland Brothers Construction, where he was a very dedicated operator. He was a member of Local 49 Operating Engineers and was a lifelong farmer. He enjoyed attending cattle shows and farm and livestock auctions. He especially loved to spend time with his family over meals at suppertime and attending his Local 49 meetings. Kenneth was a lifetime member of Red Oak Grove Lutheran Church.

Kenneth is survived by his wife, Marjorie Trihus, of Blooming Prairie; sons John (Wendy Cadwell) Trihus and Brian Trihus, both of Blooming Prairie; daughter, Rachel Trihus, of Des Moines, Iowa; and three grandchildren, Tyler Trihus and Cassandra and Ruth Jones; as well as many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by parents Marvel and Olga Trihus; two brothers, Gordon and Franklin Trihus; and sister, Elaine Lofthus.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Red Oak Grove Lutheran Church in Austin. The Rev. Lindsay Stolen will officiate. Interment will follow the service in Red Oak Grove Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Worlein Blooming Prairie Funeral Home in Blooming Prairie and for one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. Military honors will be accorded by Blooming Prairie American Legion Post No. 52 and V.F.W. Post No. 878. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Red Oak Grove Cemetery fund.  Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.worlein.com.
