Klobuchar, a Democrat, and the Republican Emmer are two of the members of Congress traveling on a two-day trip to the country with President Barack Obama, who has become the first sitting president since Calvin Coolidge to visit the island nation.

Klobuchar is the lead Senate sponsor of legislation to lift the U.S. trade embargo with Cuba. Emmer is leading a similar effort in the House.

Klobuchar told reporters Monday that lifting the embargo would allow American producers and companies to thrive. She said there’s a need for agricultural goods that Minnesota producers could supply.

Emmer says U.S. businesses need to petition their representatives if they want restrictions eased.
