An employee at one Albert Lea establishment illegally sold alcohol to an underage decoy during compliance checks Thursday.
The establishment that made the illegal sale was Eastside Liquor.
Heather Joy Langfold, 36, reportedly made the sale.
Retail clerks who sell alcohol to those under the age of 21 are summonsed to court and charged with a gross misdemeanor.
The establishment is also subject to having its alcohol license suspended. Continued violations may result in license revocation.
A detective supervised decoys between 18 to 20 years old attempting to purchase alcohol products in 30 establishments, three of which were reportedly closed.
According to a news release, both a state of Minnesota provisional driver’s license and instructional permit illustrated the date the holder became 18, and an additional under 21 notation above the photo was provided.
The Albert Lea City Council supports a voluntary Best Practices program to encourage liquor license holders to voluntarily undertake practices that will help avoid sales to underage buyers.
