During the Lenten season, the children and staff at St. Casimir’s Catholic School in Wells have been working to live out the spiritual and corporal works of mercy.

According to a press release, each week students focus on a separate work of mercy to study and live out in their daily lives.

During the week that was designated for caring for the imprisoned, the students learned how a person can be imprisoned not only by the justice system for their actions, but also due to a person’s physical situation.

After learning of members in the community who may find themselves shut off from others, the children made caring cards that were sent to these individuals. In gratitude for the thoughtfulness displayed by the pre-kindergarten students, John Weber, a recipient of their caring card, knitted a thank you bunny for each of the students and their teacher.
