Arlene Jensen, 1933-2016

Funeral services for Arlene Jensen will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Alden. The Rev. Greg Ofsdahl will officiate. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of the  service at the church. Interment will be in Carlston Cemetery. Bonnerup Funeral Service is handling the arrangements.

Arlene Joyce Jensen of Alden passed away April 25, 2016, at Ecumen in Mapleton. She was  82. She was born May 6, 1933, to Everett and Alma (Vinaas) Nash in Kossuth County, Iowa.

Arlene was a 1951 Alden High School graduate and later on attended Mankato State University. She was an active member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Alden. She was a bookkeeper until she got married in 1955 to Merlyn Jensen and the pair farmed together. Arlene was an excellent cook and enjoyed feeding many farm workers and her family members over the years. She belonged to  Freeborn County Extension Clubs in her younger years. As she got older, Arlene loved spending time with her grandchildren and watching them play various sports.

Arlene is survived by her children Rita (Clair) Drescher of Alden and Mike (Jenny) Jensen of Alden; grandchildren Ben (Adrienne) Drescher, Alex Drescher, Katie (Steve) Schulteis, Megan (Robert) Schettler, Zak (Amanda) Drescher, Matt Jensen (fiancee, Alyson Mooney); five great-grandchildren; brother, Everett (Patsy) Nash; sister, Beverly (Milford) Bohonek; brothers and sisters-in-law Delores & Richard Wobschall, Agnes Nash and Tom Mesko; as well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Arlene was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Merlyn Jensen; brother, James Nash; and sister, Doris Mesko.
