HASTINGS — A bald eagle is back in the wild more than a month after being rescued by a Minnesota state trooper.

Trooper Paul Kingery found the injured eagle March 21 along the side of the Interstate 494 in Eagan. He took the bird to the University of Minnesota Raptor Center in St. Paul.

The eagle suffered internal injuries after being struck by a vehicle, but no broken bones. With the eagle fully recovered, it was time to return the bird to the wild.

Kingery released the eagle near Hastings Friday afternoon. According to a press release, the eagle took flight without trouble.
