Shirley A. Haugen, 77, of Las Vegas passed away Saturday, April 9, 2016, after a heroic fight with cancer.

Shirley was born Oct. 17, 1938, to Dorothy and Virgil Sickels, in Wells. She was a 30-plus year resident of Las Vegas.

Shirley was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.

She is preceded in death by her parents Dorothy Ofstedal and Virgil Sickels; stepfather, Walter Ofstedal; brothers Bobby and Virgil Sickels; and son, Todd Haugen.

Shirley is survived by her brother, Wayne (Charmaine) Sickels; sons Lynn Haugen, Ellard Haugen Jr., Timothy (Judith) Haugen and Daniel Haugen; daughters Lori Haugen and Kimberly (Guy) Ritter; grandchildren Jahala Haugen, Hugh Haugen, Jeffery Haugen, Shaudee Haugen, Cierra Ritter, Grace Haugen and Leland Haugen; great-grandchildren Romeo, Elijah, Jason, Jadic, Prince, Issrael, Toussant, Harper, Lexie and Addision.

Shirley was a strong, religious, loving woman who raised seven children by herself. Shirley will be deeply missed by her family and friends and will remain in their hearts forever. “Rest in peace beautiful lady.”

Memorial and Mass services took place at 2 p.m. Thursday at Palm Mortuary. The Rev. Michael Conway of St. Francis De Sales Parish officiated. A memorial service and burial will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Theodore Cemetery in Albert Lea.
