Young woman, dog struck, killed by train in Wadena

WADENA — A young woman and a dog are dead after they were struck by a freight train in Wadena.
The Wadena County Sheriff’s Office said the pedestrian and the dog were hit by an eastbound Burlington Northern Santa Fe train just after 6 p.m. Saturday.
The train stopped after the accident, closing all railroad crossings in the north-central Minnesota town for about three hours.
The name of the woman won’t be released until her family is notified.
According to a press release, the railroad is investigating along with Wadena police and the sheriff’s office.
