Laverne Peters of Albert Lea was recognized as  the Modern Woodmen of America’s annual Hometown Hero for 2016 at a dinner on April 6 at the Eagles Club in Albert Lea.

According to a press release, the Modern Woodmen of America is dedicated to improving the community and recognizes those who do the same.

As Modern Woodmen’s Hometown Hero recipient, Peters was given the opportunity to select a charitable organization to receive a $100 donation.
