The Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office on Friday afternoon issued a burning ban because of high winds and dropping humidity, according to a news release.

The county is in a red flag warning.

The ban will be in place until further notice.

The Sheriff’s Office advised if you have a recreational fire, make sure the fire is out by the time you leave by either burying the embers with dirt or flushing the embers with plenty of water.

Most of the state is in a red flag warning, and the northern part of the state is  battling a number of fires.
