Habitat for Humanity recently announced the availability of handicap ramps — free of charge — to six homeowners in need in 2016. A one-time source of grant funds will provide for custom built handicap ramps.
People in need of a ramp must meet the following qualifications:
• Own their home
• Home located in Mower or Freeborn County
• Low income
• Demonstrated need for a ramp
• Willing to participate in media surrounding the project.
Interested homeowners should apply at the Habitat for Humanity office at 1415 1st Avenue SW in Austin or call (507) 433-1349 for more information. A site visit will be conducted to determine whether or not ramp construction is feasible.
