Lorraine Jensen, 1924-2016

Lorraine D. Jensen, 91, of Blooming Prairie died Friday, May 20, 2016, at Prairie Manor Care Center in Blooming Prairie.

Lorraine Dorothy was born Oct. 1, 1924, in rural Blooming Prairie to Frank and Barbara (Slezak) Ruzek. Lorraine was united in marriage on Feb. 1, 1943, to Octave Goodnature at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Newry Township, Freeborn County. The couple farmed in rural Freeborn County. Octave passed away March 30, 1949. On Dec. 4, 1952, Lorraine married Milo “Jeff” Jensen at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Newry Township. Lorraine and Jeff also farmed for many years. Jeff passed away on Oct. 7, 2004. Lorraine continued to reside on the farm site until 2009, where she enjoyed gardening and had many beautiful flowers, vegetables and

raspberries. She was always busy canning or baking. She took great pleasure in sharing her vegetables and baked goods with family and friends. Over the years Lorraine worked many jobs, including Land O’ Lakes of Albert Lea and the Hollandale fall vegetable harvest.

Lorraine is survived by her children Lawrence Goodnature of Blooming Prairie, Mary Ann Mooney of Rochester, Jim (Barbara) Goodnature of Rochester, Patrick (Linda) Goodnature of Geneva, Frank (Beth) Jensen of Austin, Steve (Ruth) Jensen of Good Thunder, Ken (Carol) Jensen of Blooming Prairie and Tom (Diane) Jensen of Blooming Prairie; 28 grandchildren; 50 great-grandchildren; brothers-in-law Leslie Jensen of Austin and Donald (Carol) Jensen of Kiester; and sisters-in-law Marcella “Sally” Anderson of Albert Lea and Janice Jensen of Hollandale. She was preceded in death by her parents; her two husbands; son, Wally; brothers Frank and Carl; sister, Orpha; and two great-grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Columbanus Catholic Church in Blooming Prairie. The Rev. Thomas Niehaus will officiate. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Worlein Blooming Prairie Funeral Home, and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Church Cemetery in Newry Township. Services pre-arranged and performed by Worlein Blooming Prairie Funeral Home.
