Memorial services for Melvin Dean Marquardt, 60, of Glenville will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Bonnerup Funeral Service in Albert Lea. Friends may visit one hour before the service at the funeral home.  Interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery.

Melvin died on Friday, May 20, 2016, at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester.

He was born on Aug. 4, 1955, in Zumbrota, the son of Jerry C. and AnnaMae (Schwierjohann) Marquardt.

Mel graduated from Owatonna High School and Austin Technical College.

Mel worked at Piepho Moving and Storage, Brown Printing in Waseca, St. John’s Lutheran Community and was working at St. Theodore Catholic Church at the time of his passing.

Melvin enjoyed gardening, viewing art, painting on canvas, listening to music, polka fests and watching classic films and movies. He loved all of nature and spending time biking and walking.

Those left to cherish Mel’s memory are brothers Myron Marquardt (Florentina) of Yuma, Arizona, and Dale Marquardt of Albert Lea; sisters Katherine Marquardt Hinzmann (Randy) of Zumbrota, Patricia Marquardt of Owatonna and Janice Marquardt of Owatonna; nieces and nephews; a great-niece and great-nephew; and aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents Jerry and AnnaMae Marquardt.
