Students participate in mock trial

On May 5, 14 sixth-grade students from Southwest Middle School participated in a Mock Trial at the Freeborn County Courthouse. Students involved included Katelyn Holt, Abby Chalmers, Lana Thompson, Cole Janssen, Henrik Lange, Samantha Brumbaugh, Macy Taylor, Colin Farr, Alex Olson, Mackenzie Monson, Isabelle Wegner, Riley Johnston, Leah Rogness and Aliyah Studier. Students were aided in their preparation by Albert Lea High School mock trial coach Neil Chalmers, ALHS mock trial assistant coach Carissa Blizzard, District Court Law Clerk Nathan Wersal and Albert Lea High School mock trial member Emily Wangen. The trial was judged by Wersal in front of a capacity crowd. - Provided
