Teen bicyclist injured after colliding with minivan

A 15-year-old boy was injured Friday afternoon after he reportedly collided with a minivan at the intersection of East Second Street and James Avenue while riding his bicycle.

The boy was transported by Gold Cross Ambulance to Mayo Clinic Health System in Albert Lea. His condition was unknown as of press time.

According to Albert Lea police, Holly Marie Stevens was reportedly driving a 2016 Honda Odyssey minivan eastbound on East Second Street approaching James Avenue. As she approached the intersection, the teenager reportedly failed to stop for the stop sign and ran into the side of the van.

The crash was reported at 4:20 p.m.

No citations were issued as a result of the crash.

The Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office, Albert Lea Fire Department and Gold Cross Ambulance assisted at the scene.
