Watershed builds on success this legislative session

I read recently about the outcome from this year’s legislative session. While it appears that there remain a lot of items that did not get accomplished, there was one shining example of success. If you read all the way to Page 8 of the Albert Lea Tribune, you would have read that the Shell Rock River Watershed District was again able to successfully navigate the rough waters in St. Paul to obtain $1.2 million in state funding for a much-needed habitat restoration program. Way to go!

This is the fifth round of funding that the watershed has obtained from the Lessard-Sams Outdoor Heritage Council funding source. The watershed continues to build upon its already stellar reputation at the state level. They continue to quietly build upon this success. I, for one, think they deserve a huge thank you for their hard work and their ability to find quiet success in St. Paul when so many other projects did not.

Keep up the good work.
