Funeral services for Elaine Elizabeth Lubitz, 89, of Albert Lea, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Theodore Catholic Church. The Rev. Russell Scepaniak will officiate. Elaine died Monday, June 6, 2016, at Mayo Clinic Health System in Albert Lea.

Elaine E. Lubitz was born April 17, 1927, in Easton, the daughter of William and Ethel (Stevermer) Sippel. She graduated high school in Delavan. On Sept. 26, 1946, Elaine married Michael “Jack” Lubitz in Easton. She worked in a hemp factory in Wells during World War II.  They moved to Nicollet where they owned a general store for 10 years. In 1959 they moved to Easton and in 1966 they moved to Albert Lea, where she worked at J.C.Penney for 25 years. In 1983, the couple each got their realtors licenses. Elaine enjoyed gardening, cooking and sewing. She was a member of St. Theodore Catholic Church, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary and the National Catholic Order of Foresters.

Elaine is survived by her children Dale (Linda) Lubitz of Chaska, Joseph (Julie) Lubitz of Stillwater, Jean (Herb) Waugh of Clear Lake, Iowa, and Marvel (Mike) Neubauer of Golden Valley; grandchildren Chad Clancy, Shane (Courtney) Clancy, Erin Clancy, Michael Lubitz, Jamie (Jason) Mielke, Dustin Lubitz, Allison (David) Brooks, Daniel (Dara) Neubauer, Tim Lubitz and Brian Lubitz; step-grandchildren Kristy (Brian) Hovenga and Michael (DeAnna) Waugh; great-grandchildren Owen, Ethan, Bree, Ivory Rose, Alexis, Devon, Isaac, Chloe, Justin, Kyle and Valin; and several in-laws, nieces and nephews.

Elaine was preceded in death by her parents; husband; great-grandson, Dylan Brooks; brothers Donald, Leo and Joe Sippel; sisters Marie Claude, Shorty Trembley and Cora Ann Murphy.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Disabled American Veterans or St. Theodore Catholic Church.
