Gasteiger throws perfect game as Bulldogs cruise to a win

Following a five-game losing streak, the Lake Mills Bulldogs had picked things up during their previous two games, both wins.

They were looking to keep building the momentum when they hosted Garner-Hayfield-Ventura Friday night.

The Bulldogs played the perfect game, literally. Starting pitcher and sophomore Jade Gasteiger was unhittable and unflappable as she pitched a perfect game, and her offense spotted her 10 runs in the first inning on the way to a 12-0 thrashing of the Cardinals.

The Bulldogs took advantage of seven walks and scored 10 runs in the first inning, then handed the ball to Gasteiger and let her do the rest.

Cede Byrnes delivered three RBIs to lead the Bulldogs offense.

Gasteiger struck out six batters and was extremely efficient in the circle. She has been a workhorse for the Bulldogs this season, having already made 20 starts. She improved her record to 9-12 on the season.

The Bulldogs have now won three games in a row, and hold an overall record of 9-14.

They will travel to North Union Monday.

First pitch is slated for 6 p.m.
