On Jan. 26, 1947, she was united in marriage to Glen W. Lamping in Forest City. The couple was blessed with a son, Kenneth Ray Lamping. Irene called Emmons her home since 1948. She was a faithful member of Emmons Lutheran Church and was active in many church activities.

In her younger years, Irene liked gardening, canning and baking; her kringla recipe was always a family favorite. She liked to crochet and embroider; many friends and family still have items made by Irene.

Irene enjoyed watching the Minnesota Twins and the RFD Channel. Most of all, Irene loved her family. She would be at every family event — big or small — and nothing put a bigger smile on her face when she could see her family grow.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Glen; parents Nels and Hendrena; mother and father in-law Fred and Opal Lamping; granddaughter, Shari Kay Lamping, in infancy; sisters Ethel Fergerson, Ruby Mitchell and Valere Gould; brothers Merle “Bud” Mikkelson and Roger Mikkelson; brother and sister in-laws Leonard Fergerson, Virgil Mitchell, Ruth Mikkelson, Jane Mikkelson, Percy Gould, Harold Lamping, Mary Wilson, Pauline Nelson and James Nelson.

Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Ken (Cindy) Lamping, of Glenville; grandchildren Pam (Craig) Braget of Lake Mills, Wanda (Douglas) Wrolson of Albert Lea, Terri (Paul) Tenold of Joice, Iowa, and Chad Lamping of Glenville; great-grandchildren Nicky (Ben) Dagestad, Ryan (Jenny) Braget, Benjamin (Amber) Honsey, Dustin Honsey, and fiancee, Maggie Borg, Megan (Mitch) Johnson, Lindsay Christenson and significant other, Todd, Lisa Wrolson, Brittni (Jordan) Molstead, Andrew (Katelyn) Tenold, Alexander Tenold and Haley Lamping; 20 great-great-grandchildren; brother, Victor Mikkelson of Pine, Arizona; sister, Myrtle (Gene) Berhow of Omaha, Nebraska; brother and sister in-laws, Donna (Marvin) Schmelzer, Lowell (Audrey) Lamping, Gerald (Phyllis) Lamping, Blanche Mikkelson, Gilma Lamping and Dale Wilson.
