Tigers headed to Saturday

Nearly a week after its team season concluded, Albert Lea track and field was back at it.

This time, it was for the individual section portion Thursday at Lakeville South.

The Tigers had a number of individuals from both the girls’ and boys’ teams advance from the preliminary round to the finals on Saturday.

Colton Mowers will compete in the 200-meter dash after he qualified with a time of 23.85. He was .61 seconds behind from qualifying for the No. 2 seed.

He will be seeded seventh.

Mowers also qualified in the 400 meters. He will be the No. 6 seed after finishing with a time of 52.20.

Abe Peterson will compete in the 110-meter high hurdles after he came in seventh with a time of 15.81.

Jackson Goodell and Herbie Lein will compete in the mile run.

Lukas Peterson and Travis Nemec will compete in the discus.

On the girls’ side, Sarah DeHaan placed third in the high jump with a height of 5-3. That was her best mark all season, and means she will compete on Saturday.

Dora Ogunkanbi qualified in the 100 meters and placed eighth with a time of 13.28.

The finals will be held at Lakeville South High School.

Start time is scheduled for 11 a.m.
