A.L. man identified in fatal truck, train crash

The name of the Albert Lea man killed Wednesday in a crash between a dump truck and a train west of Alden has been released.

Theodore Arthur Yost, 67, was the driver of the dump truck involved in the crash.

The dump truck and the train collided at around 4 p.m. Wednesday at the uncontrolled intersection of 220th Street and 200th Street, about a mile west of Alden.

According to a Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office press release, the train operated by Canadian Pacific was traveling west and the dump truck was traveling north.

Yost was found deceased by first responders, while the staff on the locomotive were reportedly uninjured.

Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Todd Earl said reconstructionists with the Minnesota State Patrol were reconstructing the scene Thursday.
