Albert Lea Community Theatre will open its 52nd season with “Mid-Life! The Crisis Musical,” written by Bob and Jim Walton, from Oct. 20 to Oct. 29. With a balanced look at the joys of growing older, this musical comedy strikes a chord with any adult, regardless of age. A series of scenes and sketches poke fun at the frustrations of mammograms, love handles, weekend warriors and proctology exams, but also touch on the sentimental wisdom that the later years afford us.

“Twelve Angry Jurors,” adapted by Sherman L. Sergel and based on the Emmy Award-winning television movie by Reginald Rose, will run March 2 through March 11, 2017.

This drama centers on the story of a young man who has just stood trial for murdering his father. It looks like an open-and- shut case — until one of the jurors begins opening the others’ eyes to the facts. The jurors’ final verdict, and how they reach it, is filled with tense scenes that will electrify the audience.

“Nana’s Naughty Knickers,” written by Katherine DiSavino, will be performed May 11 to May 20, 2017. This hilarious comedy features Bridget and her grandmother as they are about to become roommates. However, what Bridget saw as a unique opportunity to stay with her favorite nana in New York for the summer, quickly turns into an experience she’ll never forget. It seems her sweet grandma is running an illegal boutique from her apartment, selling handmade naughty knickers to senior citizens.

For its final production of the 52nd season, ACT will present Disney and Cameron Mackintosh’s “Mary Poppins,” a musical based on the stories of P.L. Travers and the Walt Disney Film, from July 13 through July 22, 2017. One of the most popular Disney movies of all time is capturing hearts in a whole new way — as a practically perfect musical. Young Jane and Michael have sent many a nanny packing before Mary Poppins arrives on their doorstep. Using a combination of magic and common sense, she must teach the Banks family how to value each other again. You’ll enjoy the irresistible story, breathtaking dance numbers and unforgettable songs, such as “A Spoonful of Sugar,” “Jolly Holiday” and “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious.”

Season tickets can be purchased at actonbroadway.com or by filling out a season ticket brochure form, available at the box office or at the Albert Lea Convention and Visitors Bureau. The box office is open from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday. A season ticket is $50 for all four shows — a savings of $16. Beginning Sept. 1, individual show tickets may be
