Bernard Meincke, 1928-2016

Funeral services for Bernard G. Meincke, 87, of Albert Lea will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Glenville. The Rev. David Efflandt will officiate. Interment will be at Pilgrim’s Rest Cemetery in Myrtle. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. Online condolences are welcome at www.bayviewfuneral.com. 

Bernard died Friday, July 22, 2016, at Good Samaritan Society of Albert Lea.

Bernard G. Meincke was born Oct. 18, 1928, in Lake City, the son of Maynard and Henrietta (Stehr) Meincke. He grew up and attended school in Lake City.

On Nov. 9, 1949, he was united in marriage to Melba Will. A farmer for many years, Bernard was a member of the Eagles Club of Albert Lea and volunteered with the Myrtle Fire Department. He enjoyed fishing, bowling and traveling in the motor home and on REA trips, including some to Europe. He also enjoyed dancing at the Eagles.

Bernard is survived by his wife of 66 years, Melba; daughter, Marcene (Tom) Gordon; son, Steve Meincke; granddaughter, Stacy (Jordan) Vollmer; grandsons Ryan Meincke and Neil Meincke and their mother, Karrie Butler; great-granddaughter, Katelyn Vollmer; sisters Lorraine Hinsch, Marlene (Fritz) Nibbe and Shirley Chenard; brother, Alvin (Linda) Meincke; and nieces and nephews.

Bernard was preceded in death by his parents Maynard and Henrietta; sister, Eunice Meincke; granddaughter, Glenda Gordon; niece, Susan Nibbe; and nephew, Neil Nibbe.

Memorials are preferred to Pilgrim’s Rest Cemetery.
