Local American Legion to host Independence Run event

Albert Lea American Legion Riders Chapter 56 will host its first annual Independence Run July 23.
Riders will depart from the American Legion at 8:30 a.m. July 23 and ride to Soldiers Walk Memorial Park in Arcadia, Wisconsin. Registration for the event will begin at 7:30 a.m. The ride is open to the public and all registered street legal vehicles can participate. Motorcycles and cars are $20 with an additional $10 for passengers.
There will be local events on North Broadway as well. An indoor silent auction will take place from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. A bean bag tournament is scheduled at 1 p.m. and there will be a motorcycle show from 5 to 8 p.m. Live entertainment will be provided by The Wicked Renegades from 8 p.m. to midnight. There will also be kids activities all day long, a dunk tank, rock climbing wall and an inflatable obstacle course. Food and drinks will be provided by the American Legion.
According to a press release, proceeds from the event will be donated to Legacy Scholarship, Beyond the Yellow Ribbon and local veterans fund. For more information, call 507-402-3006.
