Mayo Clinic Health System in Albert Lea to offer urgent care appointments

A new option is now available for patients who have urgent health care concerns, according to a press release.
Patients who need same-day care for minor illnesses and injuries now have the option to schedule an appointment in urgent care at Mayo Clinic Health System in Albert Lea. Walk-in visits to urgent care will still be accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis. Appointments are accepted from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
“Our goal is to provide better access and more convenience to patients who need acute care services,” Steve Waldhoff, operations administrator at Mayo Clinic Health System in Albert Lea and Austin, said. “Patients can choose which option works best for their schedule and health care needs.”
Urgent care provides same-day treatment for those age 6 months and older for minor health concerns such as:
• Colds and flu, including fevers, coughs, sore throats and earaches
• Sprains, strains and simple fractures
• Scrapes and cuts
• Minor burns
• Skin conditions, including rashes, poison ivy and insect bites
• Vomiting and diarrhea
• Urinary tract infections
• Minor allergic reactions
Located on the fourth floor of the clinic, urgent care is open from 8 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. seven days a week including holidays. To schedule an appointment in urgent care, call 507-668-2041.
