Area native graduates

Graduation ceremonies took place July 20 for three students graduating from Ministry Saint Joseph’s Hospital nuclear medicine technology program.

Upon completion of her 12-month intership, Abby LeBrun received a certificate of graduation from Ministry Saint Joseph’s Hospital. LeBrun, daughter of Brian and Megan LeBrun from Clarks Grove, will begin employment with Siemens Healthcare in Knoxville, Tennessee.

She will also receive a Bachelor of Science degree in nuclear medicine technology from the University of Wisconsin–La Crosse. LeBrun is eligible to take the nuclear medicine technology certification board examination and/or the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists – nuclear medicine examination to become nationally certified as a nuclear medicine technologist.

Nuclear medicine is a medical specialty that uses small amounts of radioactive materials, called radiopharmaceuticals, to diagnose and treat disease. A nuclear medicine technologist is a highly-specialized health care professional that combines a strong background in chemistry, physics, mathematics, and computer technology with quality patient care to assess both the function and structure of the organ being analyzed.

The nuclear medicine technology program at Ministry Saint Joseph’s is accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Educational Programs in Nuclear Medicine Technology and the nuclear medicine department is accredited by the American College of Radiology.

 

A.L. natives make
dean’s list

Claire Ellis and Samantha Stanley, both of Albert Lea, were recognized on the spring semester dean’s list at Creighton University. Full-time students who earn a 3.5 grade-point average or better on a 4.0 scale are eligible for the dean’s list.

 

Local student graduates

Upper Iowa University has announced Chelsea Adams of Albert Lea graduated in May with a Bachelor of Science degree in criminal justice.

Upper Iowa University is a private, not-for-profit university providing undergraduate and graduate degree programs to about 5,800 students

 

Student accepted
to U of M

Emmitt Stevens of Albert Lea has been accepted and has registered for fall semester classes at the University of Minnesota-Crookston. Stevens plans to major in exercise science and wellness. He is the son of Clint and DeAnn Stevens.

Fall semester classes began Tuesday at the Crookston campus.
