Cleon Phalen Seedorf, 65, of Elma, Iowa, passed away Monday, Aug. 15, 2016, in Lake City. Cleon was born Dec. 5, 1950, to Phalen and Henrietta (Katzung) Seedorf in Tyler. He was raised in Alden and graduated from Alden High School. Cleon attended Jackson Vocational School to become an electrical lineman. He worked for 38 years at

Interstate Power and Alliant Energy. On Dec. 19, 1970, Cleon married Jean Bratch at First Baptist Church in Clarks Grove and to this union two sons were born, Phalen and Christopher.

Cleon lived for the outdoors and being on water, spending much of his free time fishing and hunting. He was involved in the Fountain Lake Sportsman Club, Howard County Conservation Board, Howard County Sportsman Club, Pheasants Forever, Ducks Unlimited, and National Rifle Association.

Survivors include his children Phalen Seedorf (Sharon O’Byrne) and Christopher (Eleesha) Seedorf; grandchildren Ashley Hanson, Christopher Seedorf Jr., Madison Seedorf and Corey Seedorf; sister, Dawn (Daniel) Diemer; niece, Desirae (Jeremiah) Wagner; aunt, LaVon Wegner; his extended Lake City family including special friend, Margie; and many other relatives and friends.

Cleon was preceded in death by his parents Phalen Seedorf and Henrietta (George) Schmidt; aunt, Verna Seedorf-Helland; and uncle, Philip Wegner.
