Northwood to host Founders Day celebration

Northwood will be celebrating the 13th Annual Founders Day Sept. 10.
According to a press release, the day with an omelet breakfast by the Northwood Lions Club at 7 to 9:30 a.m. at the Masonic Temple, east of the fire station. Breakfast will include, omelets, muffins, juice, coffee and milk. The building is handicap accessible.
Registration for the Aristocrats Classic car show will be from 8 to 11 a.m. on Central Avenue. Trophies for the Top 35 cars will be awarded at 3 p.m.
The Cemetery Walk will be at 9:30 a.m. in Sunset Rest Cemetery and will feature the lives of Howard Vorland, Civil War veteran William Stotts and the three Abraham’s children who died in a fire in Northwood.
The third annual 5K fun run will be at 9 a.m. with registration beginning an hour earlier at the Shelter House in Central Park. Those who are interested, or would like more information, may call Jolene Cotter at 641-324-1802 or 641-390-1347.
Entertainment will be a variety show featuring The Raiders of the Lost Art, Denny’s School of Dance and Take Three on the Showmobile stage. Entertainment is sponsored by the Northwood Special Events Committee and free to all.
There will also be a several drawings of Northwood Dollars between acts. Attendees may sign up from 9 a.m. to noon that day at the Norwegian goodie booth. Participants must be present to win.
There will be vendors on Central Avenue including Norwegian goodies and food and drinks, inflatables for kids, a quilt presentation — Stitches In Time — at the Historical Museum, root beer floats and more. Several class reunions will be held that weekend. Museums, restaurants and stores will be open.
