Remember the Golden Rule

Be a good neighbor. The Golden Rule comes to mind. Do onto others as you would have them do onto you.

Many people own a dog. A majority of those people take care of that dog. They don’t allow it to bark excessively, and they clean up after it. As I am writing this, a dog in my neighborhood is barking excessively. Evidently the owner is either deaf, doesn’t care or is not home.

Responsible dog owners don’t let their dog wander into a neighbor’s yard to deposit dog droppings there. It irritates me when I am mowing my lawn, and I happen to step into some dog droppings or the lawn mower wheel rolls over it. Honestly, it stinks.

Leaving your trash and recycling containers on the boulevard from week to week is unsightly. Take the time to remove them from the curb after the pickup has occurred. Recently, I saw a posting on Facebook where a community is considering fining those people who fail to remove the containers from the curb in a reasonable amount of time.

Watch your driving on the residential streets. No speeding or reckless driving. Children are playing and don’t always use good judgement when they cross the street. You wouldn’t want to be responsible for injuring a child by your carelessness.

Music — most everybody likes music. But, maybe the music you are playing loud isn’t to your neighbors liking. Tone it down and play it softer. You’ll still enjoy it.

Be a good neighbor.
