From a recent conversation with the manager of the AARP Tax Aide program, I have real concerns about the availability of the tax preparation service program in 2017.

There are crucial changes being made by the IRS and the state of Minnesota that effect the volunteer preparers and this sponsoring agency. These changes are a burden on the volunteers and a financial risk for Senior Resources.

The solution that would have the most impact would be additional volunteers. This would ensure there are enough preparers and supervisors, which would relieve the pressure created by a few doing so much. Senior Resources would make the adjustments needed because we understand the need for low-cost tax preparation, especially for seniors.
