Albert Lea police warn of roofing scam

The Albert Lea-Freeborn County Chamber of Commerce sent out a notification Friday from the Albert Lea Police Department of a roofing scam taking place in the area.

According to the notification, police received a complaint of a person who was scammed out of $1,800 on Sept. 2 and no work was done on the roof.

The suspects are two men in their mid-20s. The vehicle they were driving was described as a white 2000s Chevy pickup with a magnetic sign on the side of the truck that was yellow in color and had dark blue or black letters. The vehicle had a red ladder on it.

Police advised reputable contractors for the most part do not show up looking for work. People should check out anyone who may be doing work on your home.

Police advised people not to pre-pay for work not done.
