Bolan to host fall market

The community of Bolan, population 23, will host its 14th annual Bolan Fall Market Saturday, according to a press release.
The United Methodist Church Women will host their traditional bazaar from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the lower level of the Bolan Schoolhouse.
The Bolan Schoolhouse and Cultural Center will also host a donation pancake breakfast fundraiser from 8 to 10 a.m. A variety of market vendors under the big maple trees and along Tulip Lane will be selling products from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Pat Doyle, Doyle Chainsaw Carving Niche of Floyd, will be going to work and making cute animals and objects out of logs from during that time as well.
The 16th Annual Bike Ride will travel from Bolan though the neighboring communities of Grafton, Iowa, Carpenter, Iowa, and St. Ansgar, Iowa. Ride registration begins at 8 am, with a mass departure at 9 a.m. The $10 registration supports the community fund and provides participants with a well-marked route and coupon for homemade pie and ice cream upon returning.
Keyboard musician Sam Crosser will be playing from 8 a.m. to noon. The United Methodist Women will be serve a scalloped potatoes and ham lunch from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the lower level of the schoolhouse. The Bolan community will have homemade pie with ice cream available on Tulip Lane from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
At 1 p.m., the Music & Ministry Servants will be special entertainment in the upper level of the schoolhouse. The musicians and vocalists are from the area and include Amy (Ringham) Thorland, Mary Ann Olsen, Sherrie (Hansen) Decker, Mike Holstad, Darla Thompson and Merle Aanrud.
