LAKE MILLS — The Bulldogs were put through the ringer Friday night.

The Lake Mills football team hosted Denver, and were shut out by the Cyclones 48-0.

“Denver dominated Lake Mills,” said Lake Mills coach Bill Byrnes. “Denver totally shut us down on offense; we never got anything going.”

The Cyclones leapt out to a 20-point lead just in the first quarter, with Sam Joerger and Eli Barrett dominating the run game for Denver, as they would throughout the night.

Offensive leaders for the Bulldogs were receiver Slade Sifuentes, who accrued 74 yards on five receptions; and quarterback Cael Boehmer, who was 8-21 for a total of 82 yards.

On defense, Marcus Esherich racked up 13 tackles for the Bulldogs, with Zach Throne adding on another nine, Alex Martinson contributing seven and Nate Orban with six.

“Defensively we battled hard, played tough in the trenches, but their size took a toll,” Byrnes said.

Next, Lake Mills (2-2 on the season), will go on the road to play MFL MarMac at 7 p.m. Friday in Monona.

“We will regroup, prepare for MFL and try to get better,” Byrnes said. “Denver is a high-quality team. We can learn from this, look to improve on many aspects and look forward to Friday.”
